Germany’s place as the leading country for scientific research has been cemented by sustained funding under the Excellence Initiative. Nature Index’s inaugural Germany special report will look at the projects and initiatives behind the awarding of Universities of Excellence status, and the work at the 57 “Clusters of Excellence” characterized by collaboration between academic and non-academic institutions and by multidisciplinary approaches.
