‘Recombinant antibodies‘

Antibodies are crucial to our immune system and they are crucial reagents in many labs. They can also be frustrating reagents when, for example, an experiment by colleagues cannot be reproduced. Recombinant antibodies, of which there are many types, can help labs to address these issues.

Generating recombinant antibodies takes commitment and skill. Conversations with academics and industry stake-holders indicate the market for recombinant antibodies is growing. Efforts are also underway to reduce, perhaps even eliminate, the use of animals in antibody production.
